Speakers Corner began in 1990, at the corner of Queen & John, as a way for the general public to voice their opinions on whatever topics they chose. Starting out as a “letters to the editor” segment on CityPulse news, the booth became so popular, a half hour show was created and aired on CityTV.
This is the prototype for the very first Speakers Corner portable units. These booths were taken to remote locations and events so people all across the country could have their voices heard on Speakers Corner.
